Clear Channel cleans out again at WWVA

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

New Guy. Just heard that there is HUGE news coming next week from WKKX. I was told that the owner of KKX, was talking to CC about buying WWVA. I wonder, if KKX buys WWVA will they be a 50,000 watt blowtourch?
Lets hope. Imagine Bloom Daddy on in 50 sates, and 16 Canadian Provinces!

If this happens, I hope Dimitri will return.

Something is up on that front. Should be news soon. WKKX will soon dominate the Wheeling market.

CC will probably sell the market as a group, not piece it out.

Then again, if the money is "right," anything can happen.

WWVA will not be 50kw-clear again.
They gave away the coverage to co-owned WFAN, I think.
Maybe 50kw daytime or something. Someday.

I thought they cut power to favor someone in NY.
Maybe I am mistaken.

You are thinking about WOWO, Ft. Wayne and WLIB, N.Y. both on 1190.

WOWO cut power to 10 kw. to allow WLIB to increase power and add nighttime coverage when both stations owned by Inner City. WOWO was then spun off to die.

WWVA is on 1170 with a 3 tower DA. Been that way for over fifty years.

WFAN is on 660.

AM stands for Amplitude Modulation, not a time of day. You can find AM stations on most car radios, especially after dark :P

you ppl are just stupid-asses..... do some homework here. the chix was fired for shotty work and running things at the wrong times - not b/c they are making personnel moves.

also, ccc intends to sell units off as states and full pacakges. not parcell things off by station - maybe by city not by station.

AM also stands for Ancient Modulation.

And FM used to stand for Frequent Madonna.

Unfortunately, AM Stereo never got a chance.

I got the opportunity to hear a C-QUAM system once. Very nice, warm, analog audio.

A great idea with horrible timing and no industry support.

Everyone was in love with FM.
