NAB Crystal Award Finalists

Post by Big Dawg »

Congratulations to our sisters at WVAQ for being a finalist for this year's NAB Crystal Award. I'm personally rooting for anybody else (maybe KOA-Denver) because I'm tired of seeing your cheap crap on the wall.

Okay...let me spice this up a bit, since it obviously bores you to death. I'm sure there are many stations throughout the state that do great things for their community. Are you getting any recognition for what you do? Any newspaper or TV coverage? Are you being LOCAL? Did you enter ANYTHING for the WVBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards? Are you all a bunch of apathetic broadcasters? What the hell are you doing? I, for one, am not doing enough for my station. I have decided that since WCHS-AM was successful with it's radiothon for St. Judes, that we're going to get onboard with the Children's Miracle Network Telethon with WVAQ this year. I'm just saying, it bothers me that to get any response around here, I gotta come on talking about how great WKKX is.
By the way, I was in Wheeling for two days this weekend...downtown. IT IS DEAD. You want to see a once historic downtown in the last stages of life? See Wheeling. But don't stop at the Cabella's exit or go onto St. Clairsville. I feel bad for that grand architecture discolored and crumbly.
Anyway, are you promoting the good things that you do?

I don't know if I ever got an answer to my question a few months back, if any other radio company than WV-RC and the one Greg Carter works for in Ravenswood entered into the WVBA thing.

I've watched enough small towns with beautiful buildings die in my lifetime already, I wish the governor would just give that damn panhandle to ohio... I'm not sure which city looks worse, wheeling or stubenville.

I think Wheeling looks worse because Steubenville has always looked like hell. As for giving it away, "Wheeling, Pennsylvania" has a nice ring to it.

There is a straight line between Marshall County and Wetzel County; it'd be easy enough to slice it there.

That's the Mason-Dixon Line. There's a historic landmark sign at the Marshall-Wetzel county line on Route 2. (Don't forget to use the river as the other boundary. Thank you.)

While we are at it, can we give Mingo and McDowell to Kentucky?

Mcdowell for sure, Mingo would put up a fight though, the Mingo and Pike county kids are known for their ongoing "feud"... hehehe

Those three counties in the northeast have a straight line, too...give 'em to Maryland.

And Ohio can't take Wheeling....Ohio doesn't cross the river.
