Hit the road, Jack

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Hit the road, Jack

Post by Dave Harman »

5pm Friday is the final hour for 107.3, Jack-FM.

It's through. Done. Over. Mistake acknowledged.

No, I don't know what the new format will be. Yes, I made sure Mr Buxser knows I'm posting this.

Radio geeks from outside the area may find a listen link to it on www.1073jackfm.com but if there's more than a few hundred listeners, the thing will probably buffer occasionally. Sorry. Oh, no one went to Spike and begged him to listen, so he may miss it.

Let the "I told you so"s begin. Over and out.

John DeVoicent: "spinning the format wheel". Go to a website and vote for the format.

...so it's still going to be satellite and not local then?

I figured this was close to happening since the billboards have been disappearing over the past few weeks.

I'd like to see "ESPN 107.3 The Jock" - All Sports....lots of high school and college sports plus ESPN Radio....but that's just me. :)

However, I wish Dave didn't post this information. Now we're going to get bombarded with "they should move 98.7 to 107.3" posts. Agh! :(

Here's my .02.

They make a big deal out of, "We listened to you...we were wrong to take your oldies away". You do nothing but good time oldies..not just Beatles, Motown, etc..but mix in some disco, classic hits, etc.

Looking for a good time? You found it on 107.3.

I'm just saying..
Titties and beer...thank God almighty for titties and beer!

Two Jacks have received the ax today (WGCO in Savannah, GA being the other.)

In the case of the Savannah Jack FM, they went back to their former Oldies format. Will WKAZ-FM follow suit?

I'm listening live online and it's been commercials so far. Commercials during a stunt? Interesting. Okay, now it's country. Coming out of the legal ID they actually used the phrase "spinning the format wheel", which I thought only existed on All Access.

From 1073jackfm.com (some of these made me laugh):

Which format do you want to see on the NEW 107.3 FM?
ROCK 107.3, The Only Station That Really Rocks.
EASY 107.3, The Anti Lyric Station.
REDNECK 107.3, Gut Bustin’ Country.
THE CHICKS 107.3, All Dixie Chicks All the Time.
BOOBTUBE 107.3, All Time Great TV Themes.
SANTA 107.3, Everyday is Christmas.
RELAX 107.3, Where the Beach Meets the Mountains.
JOCKULARITY 107.3, All Laughs All the Time.
OLDIES RADIO 107.3, Jack Ain’t No Friend of Ours.
MOUNTAINEER 107.3, West Virginia’s Music.
SUPER 107.3, Chucktowns Super-D-Duper Hits.
DISCO 107.3, Who Says You Can Only Hear These Songs at Weddings.
JACK FM 107.3, Don’t Change the Jack.

Oy vey! It's bad enough when V100 does that from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Not a single Hanukkah song. (Yes, there are some.)
