For radio geeks like me who's hears perk up at the slightest mention of the word "radio" WSAZ's"First at Five" is about to do some feature on radio. They just teased it before going to commericals.

OK, so it was a story about JB's Magic Station becoming the first in the nation to rerun Casey Kasem's Top 40 shows from the 80's. JB interviewed and Virginia West showed on air. JB claims that Casey orginated the term "coming up"? OK. Seems to me their studio looked way too tidy. Maybe JB should put panties on his head like Nunley.

Right on, Gen. BTW the first post should have said "ears" perk up not "hears" perk up. Sorry, trying to cook dinner and post at the same time. Never let it be said I am not a good wife.

That's what the story said. I know XM has been running the 70's and 80's versions on Sunday afternoons for sometime.

They used to run those on Hitz 94 in Greensboro, before Cambell f*cked it up.

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

It actually is kinda cool. When you break it down to the music, they're suddenly going to be increasing the number of songs they play by the hundreds. Now if they just integrate some of those into their playlist, the AC songs that make sense that is, and the repitition could diminish greatly. I'll be listening for the first few weeks, mostly out of curiosity.
Life is like a simile.

Hell yeah, I'd love to listen to the early 80s shows. Where are they getting them from? Does someone have a stack of the shows on vinyl from back in the day or is this a service offered by Premiere?

i used to have about 8 shows on vinyl. one had a note from a then high school junior, working weekends running AT40 and getting a few live hours afterwards paul cubby bryant to the pd tony macrini about us getting mentioned in the show. somehow they disapeared when my first wife and i split up.

[/Hallburn-ish name dropping section of the thread] LOL :)

The report said they were the first station in America to sign on to replay them so I took it they were being offered by a syndicator.
