ok, so i bought an 06 Honda Civic EX and curiously hit the XM button, and i'll be damned it was on. after 4 days i can tell you i'm a little disappointed. i've only found 1 rock station that comes anywhere close to meeting my needs. i thought this 8,492 channel sat radio thing had EVERYTHING... they've come a little closer with a couple of the techno stations. but i will say, it's nice to flip over to cnn headline news on my way to the station @ 4am.
I'm not an idiot, but I play one on the radio.

Nice. I wish I would have went for the EX. Mine is an LX (no xm, no sunroof, no nicer wheels).

I was too. I bought into XM thinking it was the be all, end all to your radio listening needs. Our local rock stations and pop stations blow the doors off the XM crap.

Sirius is much better but the sound quality isn't even on par with XM, let alone FM.

Congrats... A great milestone indeed.

As for XM, unless you like obscure crap peppered with hits, they do a poor job with the rock category... Sirius dominates the rock genre, if you like the hits.

Techno: The System and BPM on XM blow Sirius out of the water. XM dominates this category.

If (when) the merger happens, I hope they keep Sirius' rock channels and XM's techno/dance/pop channels.

I am currently deciding on which "alternate" station to assign a preset to so that I can pick up extra Pirates coverage, if necessary. 104.7 itself is a viable option here in Morgantown, but fades quickly down I-79. 1450 was an option during Spring Training, along with a couple of other AM's. I actually at one point went to take out WPDX-AM and put KDKA in between WMMN and WWVA and then I remembered...

By the way if I am driving through Westchester County New York, I set my first AM button on "9-Double-Oh--radio... WVWA!"

The only preset button I have is my scan button. If a cd ain't in the pickemuptruck, a station usually doesn't last 5 minutes. Well, unless it's news or sports and then I give them an extra 5.

You must either be a barmaid or a bass drummer from a local high school band....

I wondered what would become of the 103.9 frequency, as I can't see RO having any interest in serving Frederick.

Now there's some FM competition for CBS' Heaven 1580... Of course, 1580 is simulcasted on WPGC's HD-2 stream, but nobody has HD Radios to hear it.

Back in the 70's 103.9 in Frederick was a real flamethrower as Z-104(14ZYQ with the AM on 1370) As I recall the FM "stick" if you want to call it that was on a telephone pole in a state park north of town.

The antenna is in the same area, but on a different "tower."

The current Frederick relay of WTOP (820 WTOP) will switch to Washington Post Radio in about a month.

Here are my Sirius presets (I only use the "A" preset group; during football season I sometimes used the "B" and/or "C" groups to program in the various games in action for the day.)

1. Howard 100 (Hot Talk uncensored)
2. Howard 101 (Hot Talk uncensored)
3. Alt Nation 21 (Modern Rock uncensored)
4. The Pulse 9 (90s/00s Hot ACish pop songs)
5. Sirius Hits 1 (Contemporary Hit Radio)
6. Left of Center 26 (College/true "alternative" songs uncensored, kind of a mix between my old College ID Required show on WUEV and the old WOXY in Oxford, OH)
7. Shade 45 (Hip-Hop uncensored)
8. The Spectrum 18 (AAA type programming, the closest thing I've found to the great WRLT Lightning 100 in Nashville)
9. Lithium 24 (90s Alternative uncensored that seems to span from 1993-1999, which is right in my wheelhouse)
0. The Coffee House 30 (Acoustic songs, mostly from the past 15 years, with some great rare gems from time to time)
