Just some general thoughts from a non-expert on the subject:

Huntington

I am shocked that WKEE and WTCR increased and WDGG decreased.
The morning shows on all three of the stations I just mentioned are just plain bad, IMO, especially compared to their predecessors. Jen's voice is like nails on a chalkboard, there's zero chemistry between Julie and Nate, and Cletus is not funny. I am sure they are perfectly nice people (I don't know any of them personally), but their respective shows are just bad.

The Brew is shit. Bring back the original format or pick something else. Alternatively, since WVHU is kicking your ass anyway (albeit barely), just simulcast WVHU on WAMX and call it done.

The Hits format on WMGA is not working and I am honestly surprised by this. I expected it to draw many more listeners from WKEE but it only seemed to strengthen KEE's numbers. It doesn't pass the logic test. I believe the whole point of flipping WMGAs format was to steal numbers from KEE, thus boosting WDGGs rank.. but I could be way off.

Poor WRVC. Time to put it out of its misery. Sell yourself to WEMM.

Charleston

The only surprise here is WRVZ's incredible sucess these last few books. They are apparently doing something right. Also, the sample size must be awfully small since you can't pick that station up past the Dunbar Toll Bridge.

Not to disagree with you Big, but at the Dunbar Toll Bridge, you are actually closer to the transmitter, than say the state Capitol. Granted, WRVZ is not a power house, but it has a great HAAT.

First rule of FM Engineering....altitude does not equal reception. Just because "you're out there" doesn't mean "you're down there".

Hilarous. I had no idea where their stick was, but I stand by my Toll Bridge estimation. I can't get a stereo signal in Hurricane. Forget it.

While Tailgate is interesting (at least for now) and generating buzz, I would have given 98.7 the frequency first for these very reasons. The Beat's been strong since the late 90s, only fluctuating with dairy placement in the market. Even segued back to the Beat brand after a brief stint as CHR Channel 98.7 years ago.

The Beat has heritage. I would have given it the signal to take on 102 instead of double-downing Tailgate on 107.3. Seems like WVRC could have received just as much exposure on a Class A instead of putting it on a B, but I guess we'll see if the mixtape format sticks over time or not.

My bet is that eventually the Beat will still be on 98.7 after 107.3 flips yet again to something else...

And let's not forget that "Tailgate" is a stupid name for a radio station. What's next? Bumper 95.1? Hubcap 104.1? Piston 99.9?

I actually thought of it as the type of upbeat music you want to hear while partying before your favorite sports team's game. Or the kind of music that goes well with a summer picnic at the local horse track and a cooler full of lovely adult beverages. But these concepts come from 10 years of life in Philly.

You are right. Perhaps WVRC should have used this name on a stick closer to Pittsburgh (and Morgantown) instead of smack dab in the middle of the Kanawha Valley.
