WCLG Ownership

Post by JKF18 »

WCLG AM to be on a new translator at 92.1 - Application states that AJG (West Virginia Radio Corporation, cough cough, descendants trust, ahem!) will soon have control over WCLG AM & FM.

WFGM-FM studios are now in the CLG building. They had/have been running the god-awful Tom Kent Radio Network 24/7 lately, instead of any local jocks. Where the audio streaming for WFGM-FM used to have the url for "wv-radio" or something along those lines, that portion of the url now says "bowers".

FCC has "Accepted for filing" a transfer of control for WKKW, WFBY, etc.

An advertisement for salespeople on the CLG website already has the AJG logo on it - and mentions WFBY, and WFGM but none of the other Clarksburg/Buckhannon stations or WKKW. It doesn't take a ratings analyst to know that WFBY and WFGM are the weak links in the greater WVRC/AJG empire.

What is the real story here? Is Bowers part of the AJG corporation in order to have FCC approval for basically complete control of the market's airwaves?

Also with Jack Logar leaving WETT Mix 104.... K-Love losing it's FM translator in Clarksburg to a station in VA, and also losing 95.9 to the Deep Creek Lake stations. Is there a deal forthcoming for 104.1 to K-Love? The market will lose yet another owner and the WVRC will add even more of a percentage in commercial radio broadcasting in the area.

K-love (e.g. Educational Media) owns both WKJL, 88.1 (Class B) and WYXA, 90.1 (Air One network). They spun off Grafton as part of a trade for WKJL. and WRIJ, Masontown, PA (which covers Morgantown, & took the WDKL call). The WKJL antenna is on the WETT tower, but with a B and a B-1, there's no real need for K-Love to buy WETT.

They're also getting a translator for WAJR.... finally. It'll substantially improve HS football broadcast opportunities.

WV radio also bought translator licenses for WCHS and their Beckley AM station.
