If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

National Periodic Test

Post by Big Media »

Who at the state level FUBARed the test. SOM tones, followed by 2 minutes of WQBE-FM audio which consisted of a Carrie Underwood song and part of a commercial break, and finally, as if to put us all out of our misery, the EOM tones.

:D :D :D :D

Can't make this shit up.

If ever there is a true emergency, we're all screwed.

Ever since wanted CONELRAD thought it was a good idea to have some AM stations to switch their operating frequency and re-tune their antenna arrays to 640 or 1240 Kcs (It was KC's back then.), The entire system has been a gross failure. EBS - Turning your carrier off and on to alert stations down the line. EAS - The beloved tones to automatically re-transmit the primary station and it's emergency message. Usually to include promo's, spots and music. Now we use the internet, satellites and whatever to alert our citizens of danger. The EAS is slightly better than the electronic road signs informing drivers to "drive carefully, Icy roads". I don't know what to do, but throwing ever more of the stations money down the drain will not help.
