Beck, fans protest his removal from WTVN

Post by Dr. Whiplash »

From http://www.theotherpaper.com

The management at 610 WTVN probably made (Columbus mayor) Mike Coleman happy when it decided to dump Glenn Beck’s syndicated show from its morning lineup. But unlike Mayor Coleman, who famously defended his manhood in an on-air dust-up with Beck in 2005, most Columbus listeners don’t have a disagreeable personal history with Beck. And some of them—like Beck himself—feel grievously wronged by his pending disappearance from 610’s airwaves.

On Tuesday morning, the dispute spilled onto the national airwaves, no doubt boring the life out of listeners to Beck’s 233 other affiliates, and onto http://www.glennbeck.com, where the usual home page was replaced by a stark screen with this message:

“Welcome Fans from Columbus, Ohio. As you may have heard, the Glenn Beck Program will be removed from 610 WTVN AM. Since 2004, the Glenn Beck Program has ranked amongst the top three shows in our time period in Columbus...â€

'Scuse me. Minutes after posting this topic I found this earlier post from Mr Jones, quoting Radio & Records. No more calls, we have a winner...

North American Broadcasting adult hits WTDA (Ted FM)/Columbus, Ohio, has jettisoned its "We play anything" music format in favor of a new talk lineup with a heavy emphasis on sports/talk.

The new "103.9 WTDA Talk FM" is now airing a weekday lineup that includes Premiere Radio Networks' "Bob & Tom Show" in mornings, Premiere's "Glenn Beck Show" in middays, Fox Sports Radio network programming from 1-4pm, a local sports/talk show hosted by Mark the Shark from 4-6pm and a return to Fox Sports Radio network shows for evenings and overnights...

Mr. Jones form another thread wrote:The new "103.9 WTDA Talk FM" is now airing a weekday lineup that includes Premiere Radio Networks' "Bob & Tom Show" in mornings, Premiere's "Glenn Beck Show" in middays, Fox Sports Radio network programming from 1-4pm, a local sports/talk show hosted by Mark the Shark from 4-6pm and a return to Fox Sports Radio network shows for evenings and overnights.
What are they bitching about? Is WTDA's coverage not up to par with 610's?

Class A vs. TVN's West Virginia-to-Michigan signal. And with the flat terrain up there and with suburban licenses, most of the Class A's have major problems clearing the downtown skyline. That said, I will bet a bag of White Castles that Glenn's presence on TED will help them and hurt TVN.

Coleman is an idiot.... So if Beck pissed him off, Beck must be doing SOMETHING right!
