Happy Birthday...

Post by J. Fox »

Well there is a lot of evidence to prove otherwise, but the first commercially licensed radio station Pittsburgh's KDKA AM 1020 went on the air on Nov. 2, 1920 and turned 87 today. So happy birthday to my competitor.

I guess I owe a Happy Birthday to KYW's Sister Station. I just hate that they nolonger broadcast from Independence Mall but on a place on 18th & Spring Garden.

To my shock Friday evening, I discovered that the old building at 5th & Market at Independence Mall where KYW was located has been demolished and is a pile of rubble. I told my friends in the Greater Northeast (part of Philly) my discovery and they too were as shocked as me.
