Layoffs at WHAS

WHAS has let go longtime evening host Joe Elliott and now carries Michael Savage 9pm to Midnight. Interestingly, Joe's hosting style is the diametric opposite of Mike Savage's. Joe for now will continue as a part time Sunday morning host. Another victim of the budget ax of The Borg. Other employees according the Louisville Courier-Journal were also laid off.

The last thing Elliott would bring up is something that makes him unique - he was born blind. WHAS says he'll continue to host a Sunday morning talk show, but for budgetary reasons it's importing the syndicated Michael Savage for evenings, 9pm-midnight. That's the latest in a series of cuts at a station that's always been at the top of the ratings heap since before Lowry Mays bought it and sister WAMZ in 1986.
