WSMJ Baltimore flips to alternative

Alternative Rock "Channel 104.3" debuts as Baltimore's smooth jazz WSMJ "fades into the sunset"

WSMJ_BaltimoreIt's officially now "Channel 104.3, Baltimore's exclusive alternative rock station", flipping from its stunt with Christmas music at exactly noon. The new station will feature Elliot in the morning, who is also heard on Clear Channel's co-owned Rock WWDC "DC 101", and nearby WRXL (102.7) Richmond. The old Smooth Jazz website online says "Thank you, Baltimore, for your years of loyal support...as 104.3 WSMJ fades into the sunset." The site also plugs the availability of smooth jazz on the HD-2 channel ot Clear Channel's 97.1, with a link to listen online. WSMJ ranked #8 in the Winter Arbitron with a 3.5 share, total week 12+, and as it goes away, it joins other defunct smooth jazz outlets in markets like Atlanta, New York - and just down I-95 from Baltimore in Washington, D.C.

Website not up yet.

Looks like the SJ format is rapidly fading into HD-2 land.

Story typo: WRXL is 102.1, not 7.

98Rock is going to rip these guys apart. With DC101 getting a clear signal into Baltimore and 98Rock....switching to rock in B-More was a bad idea.
