Top Three 2008 Billing Stations Were In L.A.
CC had half the top 10
By Jeffrey Yorke

Clear Channel Communications had half of the nation’s top-10 revenue billing stations in 2008, CBS Radio had three and Bonneville International and Emmis Communications each claimed one.

Five of them -- KFI, KIIS, KPWR, KROQ and KOST -- were in Los Angeles, and four – WCBS, WINS, WHTZ and WLTW -- were in New York. Together, these 10 stations had $521.6 million in revenues, according to BIAfn, the Chantilly, Va. media research firm that collects and analyzes financial data...

BIAFn Top 10 Billing Radio Stations - 2008

KIIS/Los Angeles $66.3 million Clear Channel Communications
KROQ/Los Angeles $56.1 million CBS Radio
KFI/Los Angeles $54.4 million Clear Channel Communications
WLTW/New York $52.6 million Clear Channel Communications
WINS/New York $51.8 million CBS Radio
WTOP/Washington $51.75 million Bonneville International
WHTZ/New York $49.6 million Clear Channel Communications
WCBS/New York $46.7 million CBS Radio
KPWR/Los Angeles $46.3 million Emmis Communications
KOST/Los Angeles $45.7 million Clear Channel Communications

WTOP being here is amazing. I didn't think DC had that much money in it for one radio station...

WJFK used to bill about $35 million per year back in the Stern days. That used to be considered very good for the market.
