WLOH purchases a translator.

Post by djMatty »

Lancaster Ohio's local WLOH AM 1320 has purchased a translator.

W284BD
LOGAN OH US
104.7 FM

From http://www.allaccess.com/ "HARDWARE MONKEY is selling FM translator W284BD/LOGAN, OH to WLOH RADIO COMPANY for $10,000."

W284AD has been rebroadcasting LowPower FM Country Gospel/Southern Gospel/teaching WWTL-LP 106.3 Logan Ohio.

WWTL's website still lists 104.7 as a frequency http://www.radiothenet.com/

Looking at the license for W284AD it has been moved into Lancaster...

from RecNet:

Looks like Mark's little AM will have a nice boost thanks to the translator... which will be moving to 104.5 FM.

Logan, Ohio can be a radio hell, depending on where you are.
There are so many hills and mountains, reception of Columbus stations can be spotty.
Lots of picket-fencing and multipath.
Jackson, Gallipolis, and Chillicothe signals don't make it that far.
Parkersburg is out of the question.

You are stuck with Logan's pea-shooter country FM, Lancaster's country FM, Nelsonville's country FM,
some satellite MIX station out of McConnelsville/New Lexington, and quirky little rock/CHR/Mix/80s/90s 105.5 from Athens.
The usual splattering of NPR and religious signals dot the lower end of the dial.

If I lived there, it would be XM/Sirius or suicide.

Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

I stayed in a cabin that was on top of one of the hills and picked up all sorts of stuff. Even caught Tom's 93R at one point. Down in the valleys would be another story, however. I used my Sirius radio most of the time, either in the boombox at the cabin, or in the car.

The 92.7 signal from Zanesville gets into that area fairly well too. Probably the old 102.5 signal did too, although it was farther north.

Looks like the translator is on the WLOH tower--or very near.

Their owner is on the Columbus R-I board -- he says they are putting it on their AM tower.
