Daystar Letting Ashland Production/Support Staff Go

Post by The Interpreter »

Daystar Television Network is downsizing three of its national stations, NBCDFW learned Thursday.

The Bedford-based Christian television network confirmed it is letting go of production and support staff at its facilities in Houston, Denver and Ashland, Ky.

Network spoksman Larry Ross said that limited technical staffs will stay on at the facilities, which will function as transmitter sites. Daystar will keep each location's studios in the event that the network needs to use them as live remotes.

Ross said the network will bring in production crews as warranted.

The network did not say why it is reducing its staff or how many total staff will be cut.

Daystar is facing at least two lawsuits.

One says evangelist Marcus Lamb pressured a former employee to help cover up an extramarital affair.

The lawsuit is still pending, as is a counter lawsuit the Lambs filed accusing the plaintiff and two other women of extortion.

An unrelated lawsuit claims Lamb’s father-in-law, Bill Trammell, sexually harassed an employee by touching her inappropriately during what he called "quiet time."

Trammell works as the network's manager of special projects, the petition said.

Daystar called the allegations against Trammell "outrageous" and said ministry attorneys would vigorously defend them....

I was in some seminars with Daystar folks this past week in Florida. I was more than unimpressed...
