Favorite rock band

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Funny, the poll reads like the play list (in it's entirety) at CC's Eagle 107.

Black Sabbath for me without a doubt. The first time I heard them my dad was playing "Iron Man" in an old Starfire we had when I was 5 years old. I didn't know what it was then, but I was awe-struck.

I was DAMN lucky to have been front row at Ozzfest in Bristol, VA this past summer to see Black Sabbath. Ozzy had a squirt-gun and squirted me, I haven't washed that shirt since. :) Ozzy/Sabbath is THE definition of metal for me, here's my top 5 fave bands:

1. Black Sabbath/Ozzy
2. KISS
3. Slayer
4. Dream Theater
5. Beatles

I do love Black Sabbath w/Ozzy... Classic stuff.

BTW, Van Halen's first world tour (1978) was as the opener for Black Sabbath.

Rush is very close to VH in my esteem. Mainly because they are one of very few bands that can mix deep themes and meanings into rock songs, and do it well. Queensryche is another.

Led Zeppelin has to get a lot of props though, as they more or less INVENTED the genre of hard rock.

Here's mine...

1. Black Sabbath/Ozzy
2. Rammstein
3. White Zombie/Rob Zombie
4. Pantera
5. AC/DC
Hon. mention: Tool, Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Static X

Side note: I first heard Rammstein while driving one morning sometime during the 5:00 hour, on 106.3. I'm not sure when they began their decline to what they are now....just eventually I began to favor the now-deceased (damn you Hometown Broadcasting!) 99.3 the X.

Wow, you did go back in time for this one. OK, so I AM from Logan, but no love for Skynyrd? They are mine along with the orginial Van Halen (I liked Hagar but to me they were totally seperate bands) and Aerosmith when they were stoned. It is my believe that when a band gets sober their music usually turns to shit.

lol @ bumping old threads.

I don't think I have a true favorite anymore... There are just too many now.

I've always been more singles-oriented anyway.

I'll rebump this in 2012.

Stones. First time I heard "Satisfaction" on WJEH after school one Monday afternoon in 1965, everything changed. The Stones are the kings.
