Use Enough Dynamite There, Butch?

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Use Enough Dynamite There, Butch?

Post by genlock »

HUNTINGTON — Joseph A. York, also known as Butch York, of Huntington has been charged by a Cabell County grand jury in a four-count indictment in connection with setting fire to a business known as York’s TV and Appliance at 319 Bridge St., in Guyandotte.

The building was burned between July 27 and July 28, 2003. The felony indictment charges York with second-degree arson, burning insured property, falsifying accounts and wanton endangerment involving destructive devices, explosive materials or incendiary devices.

You ain't kidding on the naming of the thread. The front of the building formerly known as York's was litterred all over Bridge Street when I was by-passed around Guyondotte the morning after the blast.

Plus, what kind of punitive damages is he going to have to pay for Elza C. Moore Hardware next door which was incenerated by the blast.
The first step in a successful revolution is to defeat all competing revolutionaries.

Butch is old and in bad health. He may go to prison just for the medical care.
Was quite a blast tho.

Who the hell didn't see that one coming?

It wasn't dynamite, though.

According to the paperwork, York created "a natural gas leak in his place of business." The indictment says the leak caused the building to explode.

It also states that a bunch of merchandise that wasn't in the explosion was written-up as damaged to the insurance company.

He was packing oxygen the last time I saw him.

I recall him always coming into the WKEE studio late at night to cut spots. I had to "produce" several myself. I was annoyed by this (as was everyone else) but Butch seemed like a nice guy. Who knew?

Those old TV spots that York's ran were quite memorable. "In beautiful downtown Guyandotte!"

..In debris filled downtown Guyandotte. Those that are familiar with the Logan area will appreciated that when Avmac Services had their offices in the area known as Cherry Tree we used "beautiful downtown Cherry Tree". Those familiar with the area will smell the irony here (or was that the smell coming from the strip club there?)

The people of Central City did not like their home called "Slabtown".

What about Ellis Addition being called "Black Bottom"? That's what I thought the actual name was until I was like 13.
