A Message for you all---
Hi all. I haven't been around these parts much recently, but it's not due to apathy. Not sure if this should be in Show Prep or where else it could go, but here it is.
A friend of mine had a heart transplant just about a month ago, and we all had high hopes.
Sadly, he passed away after a 2 week fight. He died from complications of the surgery. He was only 44 years old.
This has nothing to do with asking for sympathy or pity. It has everything to do with the following.
If you have not already signed an organ donor card, or indicated you wish to be a donor on your driver's license--I urge you not to put it off.
My friend was in line for a transplant for almost 5 years. Most of the time he was on the list, he was not considered in imminent danger, but in recent weeks things were more urgent.
Please--if you haven't considered being a donor--do consider it now.
Thanks

Signed back up as an organ donor when renewing my license - went a while without that designation because the BMV clerk was stoned. It really is a crying shame that people die just because of a lack of organ donors.
On a positive note, I recently donated my gall bladder to the Surgeons' Recreational Boating Foundation.

I've been designated as an organ donor in the three states where I've held a driver's license.
Here are some other things you can do while you are alive:
1) Donate blood. The need is constant.
2) Donate bone marrow. This is used for leukemia patients. http://www.marrow.org/
You don't have to die to save a life!
