R.I.P. Boris Pickett

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

R.I.P. Boris Pickett

Post by genlock »

NEW YORK - He does the "Monster Mash" no more.

Bobby "Boris" Pickett, whose dead-on Boris Karloff impression propelled the Halloween anthem to the top of the charts in 1962, making him one of pop music's most enduring one-hit wonders, has died of leukemia. He was 69.

He also did "Monster's Holiday" (a Christmas tune). Had the monsters planning an attack on Santa....but "Boris" talks them outa it. Flop.

"Monster Mash" is still the most requested song at Halloween. Most are shocked to find it IS in stereo.

The re-issue in the 70s had to be the worst sounding crap ever put to 45.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

I played the original mono 45 last night and it is much better than the re-issue version. Just think after being rejected by many lables it eventually was released on Deram, Garpax, London, Parrot, PolyGram, Polygram.
