Jet And Scott's Halloween Spectacular #3

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

The Jeff Wayne version came out in 77 or 78. The music was directed by Jeff Lynne of ELO with a lot of people from The Alan Parsons Project and other British bands of the time. It was a double lp set (remember those). It's a tremendous rendering.

Finally, Bob, you say something usefull! I had never even heard of this. Sounds pretty hip, I'm going to have to pick up a copy of this. I checked at my beloveded CDUniverse.com, and it's in print in SACD Hybrid, as well as dowloadable.

As soon as I saw Jeff Wayne come up the question hit me: do any of you remember "All This And World War II"? It was like a movie of World War II footage set to Beatles cover versions. I remember I bought the album just because it had Roy Wood doing "Mean Mr. Mustard" or something like that...

Or, Greg Goodfellow, did you mean to resurrect it like this? I'm sure there are a few more songs that have been issued over the last 4-5 years that could be included here.

And, by the way, where is Jet???

Thanks for bring back the thread, Scott! As to recently-issued songs, I'll defer to those smarter than me, which would be virtually everyone on the planet.

I've been hired to do a Hallowe'en dance in a couple of weeks, so I'll definitely be combing this list. If anyone can narrow the list down to enough for four hours' worth (along with current dance music, of course), I'd be most appreciative...or send me some mp3's

Scott, I was hoping you'd resurrect (couldn't help it) this thread-THANKS!

I raise a toast (with Knob Creek) to our lost comrade of the WVRMB. He introduced me to the finest bourbon before it was cool to drink the finest of bourbons.

And I will say this is the best Halloween playlist that I have ever seen and in the last 6 years have only managed to accumulate about 75% of the songs on it. But my iPhone is ready for the season.

Halloween Madness is airing on Oldies 97.3 (WSWO-LP) from 8 to 11 pm on October 30. (Has to be on Thursday to dodge high school football on the 31st). Streaming available at daytonoldies.org or TuneIn. I would imagine everything that will play is on this list somewhere.

I was here at home this afternoon, rebulbing my 1984 Williams LaserCue with LED bulbs when "Paradise Flat" by Status Quo came up in the computer's music rotation and I was suddenly reminded: IT'S TIME FOR THE SPECTACULAR TO RETURN FOR 2015!!!

We are doing a variety of things again at KNIGHTS RADIO, specifically "War of the Worlds," plus HALLOWE'EN editions of many of our shows. The capper of this has to be "The Dr. Yeti Hour of Alien Invasion Power", but all of the shows do a great job with Hallowe'en.

And tonight, from the KY Compound, I raise my glass of Knob Creek to the honor of the resident of the Arx Obscurus.

To Jet!

Now, on with the 2015 playing of the ultimate Halloween playlist.

Cheers!

If Dick Bartley can bring up Halloween music in a post on HIS Facebook page on October 3rd, so can we...

Thanks for bringing this back...I was thinking about this over the weekend. Any new songs for 2016?

One addition I can think of for this year even has a "West Virginia connection" to it...

We played "The Lurch," along with adding new Hallowe'en themed shows, and rerunning others. And, yes, we aired WAR OF THE WORLDS last night at 7. All in all, the best Hallowe'en we've ever done, and hopefully next year will be even better.
