Plague in Charleston

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Plague in Charleston

Post by genlock »

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Health officials in Kanawha County are confirming a death caused by hantavirus.

Officials for the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department didn't immediately release details on the death. They've scheduled a 3 p.m. news conference to discuss the case.

There is no cure for hantavirus.

People can be infected by inhaling the virus or by handling infected rodents- or broadcast sales types. Infected people usually have flu-like symptoms including fever, shortness of breath, chills and muscle and body aches.

Is this case related to the Yosemite outbreak.

Edit: Yep. Its related.

So this means I do not have to worry as to whether I will die with the "possum kill" I had at the compound over labor day weekend. Although I have never heard that marsupials with nasty attitudes were a carrier for hantavirus.
