Most of the colleges listed are branch campuses of larger institutions. The Ironton and Chillicothe branches of Ohio University made the list. These smaller outposts serve as feeders to the main campus and traditional four year degrees. You get the first year or so out of the way at home, then you need to go elsewhere if you want to graduate. Associate degrees and certificate programs are usually available on site, but anything greater requires a transfer to the Mother Ship.

It would be interesting to learn how this website determined the "winners". Does a working mom who takes the first two years of her Bachelor's degree at OU Southern but must transfer to Marshall University or the Ohio University campus in Athens to finish her major count as a dropout or a failure? Community Colleges (like OU Southern) attract and try to serve a higher number of non traditional students (older working adults), low income students, and academically marginal students who are testing the water to see if they can handle college classes. Nothing wrong with that. Community Colleges have a place in the educational world as a gateway for many people who could never attend a traditional (full time resident student) university.

Just taking issue with the article and hate seeing these schools bashed. Rant over.
