When Antiquated Tech Companies Collide

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

When Antiquated Tech Companies Collide

Post by cgarison »

It is a problem in industry. It has been a problem since before the days that Baldwin locomotive paired with Alco to make a non-steam locomotive. Or when a helicopter motor was tossed into the back of an Automobile that never got off the ground by Preston Thomas Tucker. And now, we have AT&T U-Verse partnering with iHeartRadio to provide live streaming of stations via an app on one of two cable channels. WooHoo!

Considering that it has been 2 weeks since the launch of the wonderful Google Music streaming service or one week since the lack luster AppleMusic was unleashed onto the masses of music listeners, all I can say is that the company of rejected and failed senior managers from other recession era crash and burn firms has once again appeared a week late and lots of dollars short of where they need to be in order to maintain relevance in today's music distribution channels.

And wait a second.... [scanning channels] well yes, there is the wonderful Music Choice channels that have been a part of digital cable since the product was originally rolled out in the mid 1990s. Yep. iHeartRadio has once again given us another tool that is essentially like a tool that we have already had for the last 20 years.
The first step in a successful revolution is to defeat all competing revolutionaries.
