Interesting vintage TV camera & equipment page

Post by CoolBreeze »

You guys may know all about this guy and his website, but I found the following kinda interesting:

"Chuck Pharis with a RCA TK-11A black & white camera. This camera was once used by WCHS TV-8 in Charleston WV. I have 40 years in television
engineering, and collect old broadcasting equipment."

( There's a small photo of the camera if you scroll down the page a bit)

Worked with TK-31's at Marietta College. These were the field versions of the TK-11, the control unit was in a long narrow case that weighed a ton.
Gave off a tremendous amount of heat as well.

Image orthicon cameras. Worked down into the infrared, you needed a really close shave with these beasts!

I have worked with a lot of that stuff.
Never the TK-20 tho.
Even predates me.

The TK-60 is a fine B&W camera.
With proper adjustment will produce noiseless pictures at very low light levels.

The TK-42 was a dog. Poor pictures at even very high light levels.
And only a 5 to 1 zoom lens. Very heavy too.
I think this guy has a mental illness like the people who end up with
several dozen cats.
