1110 WBT is testing nighttime HD signal

Post by AmpedNow »

The station sounds slightly different, but hardly noticeable.

On the car radio, there's some minimal hashing over 1120 KMOX. 1100 WTAM seems unaffected. I'll check the Superadio shortly.

Of course, this is one single station... If and when all the nighttimers fire up their HD transmitters, I can see where this might become problematic.

Time will tell.

IBAC nighttime starts September 14th

A Friday.

Just in time for Friday Night Football!!!

Lots of stations will be exercising their Football Special Temporary Authority to operate past sundown with full power. :P

Friday Football Authority!

It makes for some interesting nighttime DXing trying to decipher whose game you are hearing. That narrowband dial up POTS phone audio cuts through the noise fairly well on its own.

Unfortunately I miss a lot of that since I'll be busy broadcasting games on Friday nights...

Has anyone noticed that "Jammin 96.1" (I call them that) in Charleston is suddenly wiping-out everything from 91.9 to 97.5 between Cross Lanes and the Montrose Exit of 64? The magic "sssss" of the digi-shoulders are effictively jamming 94.5 into non-extistence until you get past Dunbar. This is a new thing I haven't heard before. Harris IBOC exciter?

Until daddy-in-the-stands tries to listen and relizes his boy's great-play happened 6 seconds before he hears it on the radio.

No, it will be daddy stuck at work who can see the tower, but can't hear his local AM station because of the hsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss from the adjacent channel IBAC station.

As Arp will point out, adjacent channel IBAC is redundant.
