Yesterday, ch 33 (and 33DT) went off. "No signal" even though the signal was at 85%. Then went dead.
Today 33 is still GONE but there is a DTV ch9.1, 9.2 and 9.3 The shows are 33's. It's ID is WSWP.
WSWP is the Beckley WVPTV station and can not be recieved here.
Anyone know what the hell is going on? Has WPBY been eliminated and replaced with a repeater?

The hostile takeover has started. Using Bray Cary as a guide, WVPTV will consolidate all operations and programming at the most logical location in West Virginia. The colors Green and White will be digitally removed from all programming. The blue and green WV logo will be replaced with a Shockwave watermark of a burning couch. All your Mountaineers are belong to us.
Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

Most of WVPTV programming originates in Beckley at WSWP-TV. All recorded and network stuff.
Been that way for over ten years.
Some programs (Law Works etc) originate at WNPB-TV in Morgantown.
Other programs like legislative coverage originate in Charleston at EBA Headquarters.
These programs are routed thru Beckley master control and then to the transmitters.
The WPBY-TV studio at Marshall was closed 10 years ago. All equipment was
removed and junked. Satellite dish removed by helicopter and dropped in junk yard.
Not even a PTV microwave path exists from Huntington. Nothing.
WPBY is presently experiencing transmission line problems.
There are times when the psip will read 9.1 and such due to software changes.
The microwave system sometimes has rain fades and that is where you get the freeze
frame or blank screen. The transmitters remain on during the fade times
thus the signal strength reading.

Now it's back on ch 33 DT and ID's as WPBY again.
So there was a transmission line problem, a software error and a 'link fade' all basicaly at the same time? Or did someone just f-up?
Is it legal to change your DTV channel and ID like that?

Don't know about the software problem, but they did have a microwave fade
