Kindred Tower Down: 92.7 The Planet

Post by unchoopfan »

The 92.7 The Planet tower was felled by Tuesday's (June 10) severe storms in the Huntington area. Station is currently operating on low power. Images courtesy Kindred Communication's Woody Woodrum.

2 cents.

It looks as if the building and all it's contents are intact. If you're going to have a tower fall, have it fall "right". HV lines are underground from the pole to the building and I don't see any interplay with the overhead lines and the tower. Some hardware like the STL dish and perhaps the FM antenna, may be salvageable - maybe not. 400 foot falls have a tendency to re-tune things. 1340 may be off a while. 2 towers down a couple hundred yards apart so maybe an EF-0 tornado. I'm sure glad there's a transmitter, antenna and auxiliary license at the WDGG site. Coverage will be affected, but they can still be OTA. STA, long-wire and marti-hop for 1340, though. It'll return. Irritating, but not devastating.
