H-C Digital TV questions/comments

Post by Mr. Jones »

I've noticed WPBY 33.5 is now showing up as "Data", then shows No AV.

What purpose does this serve, or is it just an oversight on their part?

Also, 33.2 no longer shows up. However, Create on 33.3 remains and the PBS HD feed is now on 24/7 on 33.4.

WOWK has brought back 13.2. I'm guessing this is in advance of March Madness? It started as the Doppler loop and is now the SD feed.

I'm guessing The Tube is never coming back to WCHS 8.2. :x

One last thing: Since I only have a crappy indoor HD antenna, I can only pick up certain channels. But the only one I haven't been able to pick up at all, ever, is WQCW, allegedly on channel 17? Is this just me, and I should upgrade to an outdoor antenna, or is it even on the air?

I live in Huntington and have a Wineguard onmidirectional. I can get everyone except WSAZ (sometimes) and the alleged, ch 17. Wasn't there a LP on Ch 17 that billowed HSN? Is it gone now? I haven't noticed.

Odd... The Charleston stations come in loud and clear but WSAZ is sketchy at best. Anyone know why?

Caught my own error before being Arped.

WPBY 33.5, Data: Probably sold this capacity to somebody for data delivery.
Or they may be testing or something.

WOWK 13.2 WX scan: Bray Cary told us several weeks ago that he wanted to do more with the new media, maybe this is a pathetic step in that direction. WBNS-TV in Columbus (The home of The Ohio State University), has broadcast four games at a time from the NCAA tourney. Somehow, I don't see WOWK doing this. Maybe two but not all four. Might require too much forward thinking.

WSAZ-DT reception: Your antenna is in a dead spot. Move it a few feet.

WQCW-DT reception: Hell, I don't get it either. Used to be able to.
Maybe they have problems. They have a new owner.

WCHS 8.2: You tube taken off due to corporate decision.

Sinclair was logging some "watch-time" on that secondary channel from my abode until that happened.

It was like MTV - except with music videos.

Was Sinclair's decision prompted, in part, by the FCC extending kidTV progamming requirements to the digital subchannels? I noticed one fine Sunday morning that WUSA 9.2 was running CBS's kid shows instead of the weather radar.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.
