WOAY Logo Question

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

WOAY Logo Question

Post by BobFrank »

Hello All,

Got a logo question for ya. Is the logo that WOAY uses on the air the red "4" logo or the WTAE-ish black "4"? I ask, because I want to have the right logo on the Wikipedia article. Yeah, WOAY has it's own Wikipedia article :)

Many thanks for any help given.

Take Care,

I don't het their channel on cable. Their website, http://www.woay.com/, shows the black circle with the white four, Image,
but their company profile page shows the red one, Image.

The red one is what they use to bug their newscasts.

Their graphic color scheme actually isn't too bad these days. Everything else, OTOH...

I gotta get some newscasts onto Youtube soon...

If you can get a couple on You Tube that would be great. From the way they sound, I guess I am lucky to have WDTV. :(

As backward as they are, it should read:

A statement that I never expected to see. Having lived in a place where you could get both stations, I'd have to agree.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

You could talk about their former morning anchor, the bikini model.

OMG! I can not believe they still sign off. Does that really save any money? What time do they sign back on?

Once upon a time, on this very board, (it may have been Jeff Miller?), the history of WOAY was laid out. On the application was written WOAK-TV, but the 'k' looked like a 'y" (I guess they couldn't afford a typewriter) and the rest is history. There is a long history about how their former studios were destroyed, the renovation of the bowling alley complex and so on.

I liked it.

But I'm weird like that.

I love comprehensive weather. I love having a really good grasp on what's going on with the weather. I'm the first to point out that, despite all the research that says "just gimme the forecast," WGN's Tom Skilling -- who goes on and on and on until he gets cut off by the control room throwing up the forecast graphic (the actual forecast graphics are not under his control) -- is possibly the most popular and almost certainly the most powerful broadcast meteorologist in the country.

Plus, I'll point out, there are many worse things a small-market TV station could fill up its noon newscast with.... :P
