ALL ACCESS has learned that CLEAR CHANNEL has handed down a Q1 clampdown on spending and instituted a hiring freeze. Translation: no promotions, no hiring, and no music research until APRIL 1st.
With the deal getting closer to closing with BAIN CAPITAL and THOMAS H. LEE PARTNERS, and a soft advertising environment, speculation and conventional wisdom is that CLEAR CHANNEL is trying to make their numbers.
CLEAR CHANNEL has declined comment.

Working from memory, I apologize if I'm off.genlock wrote:What does music research consist of?
Primarily it is call out or auditorium testing.
Call out: Calling people (that will answer the phone) and playing them song clips to gauge their interest in the songs.
Auditorium: Same thing, but with a large crowd, in an 'auditorium' setting.
Why do this? Because they'd rather have the opinion that probably doesn't give shit over the folks that actually take the time to phone in requests.

WSAZ has lost so many employees with years of experience and have
hired "off the street" people with no experience for CHEAP.
Their news department has suffered badly and not the first choice
viewers turn to for breaking news. On Friday, they were so quick to
be first on the air with a shelter in place for Kanawha County when
no shelter in place had been issued.
Gray Television probably realized the price they paid for WSAZ
from Emiis was way overpriced and not seeing the profit they thought
WSAZ could bring to them.

what has happened to Doug Korstange? i see Susan is still on the air. She was off for a few weeks and is back on but her husband Doug is gone. he is not listed as working there on the WSAZ web site?? When Susan was reduced to reporter after having a baby at wowk she quit and went to WSAZ. well Doug also quit and later showed up at the big 3. Have they split up and Doug has moved on to where? or has he moved on and Susan will follow later? Hope someone has the answer.

He's in PR at St. Mary's Medical Center now. I'm not sure of their marital status.oldtvman2 wrote:what has happened to Doug Korstange? i see Susan is still on the air.
