Nah. The biggest project was the complete re-build of the directional-array about 5 years ago.genlock wrote:Biggest WRVC-AM news in years.
(Transmitters are getting replaced about every 30-years-or-so).

Any pieces of the ol' Collins 21A laying around??
I so loved that monster....... I was just a simple transmitter.
It never really complained much. Even in the heat of summer.....

Is it on the air yet? Or is Cameron too busy posting on this board to finish the wiring?

Snippy, snippy.
The transmitter is paid-in-full.
We're just waiting on delivery.
Ya' gettin' a lot of bouncin' checks making you snippy?
Really, I don't mind if someone starts another thread.

Re: New Transmitter at WRVC-am Due
We just bought a new 2500 watt Nautel for WXCR, and discovered that trucking routes are very convoluted. Especially from Canada. Just received my V-2 last week. (no--no--no! It is not liquid fueled. You are thinking of an A-4: http://www.v2rocket.com/) You might find it interesting and useful to check on the trucking company website to see the convoluted path your transmitter is taking from factory to your door; ours took a week to cover the 1000 miles or so from Halifax.
In our case, since you can get a semi down our road~ but not back out (no place to turn around) we just took our station van down to the shipper's local terminal and had them load the two crates in the back with their forklift. Uncreated, the entire transmitter fits in the trunk of my car. Don't think you will be able to do that with your new 5 kw.

New transmitters are so small that they can be mailed.

Uh-oh!
That new transmitter might be routed to Huntington Beach, CA if the post office gets a hold of it!

Many 1kw transmitters sure, but a 5kw? I haven't seen one that is smaller than 4 1/2 ft tall in a rack. Do you know of a smaller brand? If so link please, I would enjoy seeing it.genlock wrote:New transmitters are so small that they can be mailed.

The transmitters are virtual.

Hope that transmitter is put on the air ASAP...the WRVC audio is really low ..Sound like its modulating about 25% as compared to other area AMs..I went from WVHU to RVC and had to turn my radio almost all the way up to hear it...

Bad tube went fizzle. Hell what do you expect from the transmitter that told the Tri-State about the bombing of Pearl Harbor?RADIOHEAD 1 wrote:Hope that transmitter is put on the air ASAP...the WRVC audio is really low ..Sound like its modulating about 25% as compared to other area AMs..I went from WVHU to RVC and had to turn my radio almost all the way up to hear it...
