Re: Columbus DJs get TV weather gig
Would you guys do this?
TV's been coming after us in morning drive for a long time, and, now, they want you / your morning show to come in at 6am and tell your listeners to leave radio, go to tv in the morning, and watch it during our spring book and their May sweeps??? And, in comparison, make yourself look amateurish, weak, and unknowledgable in the most important service element in the morning??? You gotta be kidding me!
Only way I would do it: 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm, 11pm, or any other PM other than noon.....and a little more training and practice than they've apparently been given.
...not that I would need it....I'd kick tail at it.....

"Yes, you do; you just won't admit it!"

I suck at T.V. and it's not just the ugliness. The severe lack of talent can't be hidden.

DJs should never do TV. One reason comes to mind: Jed Flowers

Re: Columbus DJs get TV weather gig
I've already done it. As some of you may recall, I was doing mornings at The Great 98 in Fairmont, when WBOY asked if I would do weekend weather and fill in work. The reasoning was that a radio guy had the ability to ad lib, and work without a script. I liked it quite a bit, but it became tougher to do after a certain period of time, so I stopped after about 3 years. It's not as odd as it sounds.

I enjoyed watching those guys. It's always neat to put a face with the familiar voice. And Channel 10 made liberal use of the radio station's logo and frequency during the weathercast and in the promos. Seems like some great shared marketing to me .....
Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

Uh, Johnson.
Thanks, Arp.
Woody Simpson did mornings on WATH-AM in the 70s.
