Storm gets WVOW from Daily Mail
Radio station WVOW in Logan lost power about 7 o'clock Tuesday night. The station was right in the middle of broadcasting the state tournament Little League game being played in Clarksburg, where Logan's 11- and 12-year-olds were playing Fairmont.
"We were fortunate enough to tape the remainder of the game after we lost power," news director Bob Weisner said. "When power is restored we'll play the final minutes even though most of the folks around here already know the outcome."
Weisner said the power outages were widely scattered throughout the area. "You can see trees and debris down on the roads. We've been told that power might not be back until noon tomorrow," he said this morning.
"AEP has told us they have to isolate where the problems are and prioritize the recovery efforts," Weisner said.

What actually happened was that the little squirrel that runs on the treadmill that powers us finally died.

You would have though, being the only station(s) in town, they would have bought a generator by now. At least a wood burning one.

Was it not a transmitter power outage that knocked you guys off the air?

So you only have a "contract" engineer now days?
The ride up the mountain isn't bad in the summer. You may fear for your life in winter at one spot however. I thought 'they' had another way up the other end since public service went on the old LOG tower.

There was no power going to the building, from what I'm told. No, we have a full time engineer, but we're kinda at the mercy of APCO when something like this happens. The drive up there is pretty bad. Its not as good as it used to be.

If I remember correctly, In storms, VOW A/F is at the mercy of APCO on one end, 2 Verizon audio circuits, and a remote-control circuit from point-to-point.daveinthemorning wrote:There was no power going to the building, from what I'm told. That may have changed, though.
There's a license at 153.29 to get one of the stations on-the-air via RPU.
(That is if Logan Concrete doesn't still operate illegaly near that frequency.)

In Logan transmitters must run on coal.

In MackDowell County, transmitters run on body odor and rotting garbage left in nearby creeks.
WVVA could relocate there.

That's what happens when you forget to feed the poor little thing. It happens in the HEX IT department around 7:30 when the hamsters fall off their wheels due to starvation. That is what happen when the off hours help desk and system monitoring people are outsourced to Bangalore.daveinthemorning wrote:What actually happened was that the little squirrel that runs on the treadmill that powers us finally died.
