A radio spot for BP subsidiary Arco is tripping some EAS monitors

The ad copy says “This is a test”, followed by a long tone. It doesn’t trip a station’s EAS system every time, but the Society of Broadcast Engineers is concerned. It says “the simulated EAS header” and the lengthy tone might constitute a violation of FCC regulations about false or deceptive Emergency Alert System transmissions. The problem seems to be centered in the Tampa area, but stations beyond Tampa Bay may also be affected.

Was a time when some station managements would not air material like that including fake "news bulletins".
If it's Radio Crime chances are I've done it or had it done to me.

My first day in Williamson (1971) for a job interview with WBTH and I damn near wrecked dodging a fire truck....that was on the radio! The "Fire Announcement" continued every fire until the sponsor quit. Who knows how many wrecks it did cause.
