OAK PARK – Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the top of a 1,000 foot radio broadcast tower Tuesday.

The man was reportedly wearing only a T-shirt and underwear when he was discovered on a platform on the tower.

Police said workers discovered the body of a young black man about 12:30 p.m. after they scaled the tower at 20931 Meyers near Eight Mile Road to do repair work.

“They found the body at the top of the tower,” said Oak Park Deputy Public Safety Director Steve Cooper. “We have not identified him yet.”

Cooper said investigators would have a better idea of what may have killed the man after an autopsy is done Tuesday by the Oakland County Medical Examiner.

There were no obvious signs of violence on the body such as stab or gunshot wounds, police said.

“We’re not ruling anything out as to the cause of death,” Cooper said

Turkey vultures roost on the Barker Ridge towers.
I wonder if they do the same in Detroit?

wonder how long the body had been there and if not for repair it could have been there for a long time. he must have had a heart attack after clinbing up there and boy it must have been cold dressed as he was. then again he must have been drunk why else would he climb the tower with out getting payed?

Sounds like an NCIS plot, where they find he was pushed out of a helicopter, or his hot air balloon collided with the tower.

Sounds like he planned to end it all by jumping.
Copy says he climbed 50 feet up before jumping and landing on probably the
candelabra arms. Climbing up a pylon antenna with a million watts of dtv erp(average = pep) power.
It is possible he was dead before he fell. Well done.

Or...man dies because of failure to "protect tower" by owner. Owner charged with manslaughter.

(No SUVs were harmed in making this statement.)
