It's finally over.

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

It's finally over.

Post by genlock »

HUNTINGTON — For the past 14 years, one workday constant in the afternoon has been the voice of former Huntington mayor Jean Dean on the radio.

But Dean will host her last two episodes of “Tri-State Viewpoint with Jean Dean” from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, on SuperTalk 94.1-FM and AM930.

Dean said she was informed that “Tri-State Viewpoint” is being canceled and replaced with a syndicated program. She said she was given a chance to move the workday afternoon show to Saturday but declined.

With Jean Dean off the air hopefully WRVC's 12+ numbers will rise above a .7 where they've been for several years...Her program has been dragging the station down for the
last 14 years....

Very true. I think Kindred is making some very smart moves.

If they increase the ratings with a better demographic, they can attract more lucrative ad customers and price the funeral homes right out of the radio market.

According to the schedule posted at supertalk941.com, the Dennis Miller Show is now on from 12 Noon - 4 PM, covering Jean Dean's former 3-4 time slot. Miller's show is only live from Noon-3 PM, so I assume the first hour is being aired again from 3-4.

There's a banner ad at the top of the page which has varying content. One of the ads still has a picture of Jean Dean along with Hoppy Kercheval, Dennis Miller, Woody Woodrum and Paul Swann. Oops.
