106.9 the axe
I was driving from Charleston to Barboursville and I happened upon a signal on 106.9 It was weak at Dunbar and got stronger in the valley and started to get dicey around Milton. The station banner was 106.9 the axe. The music was variable older music with songs I heard were from John Cougar to Anita Baker. Does anyone have any information about this.

Re: 106.9 the axe
Took two different listens earlier today along 64.
Some thoughts:
The processing needs some work. Some of the songs skipped, like the computer playing them is running multiple applications at once while trying to run the Winamp playlist.
As for the songs, the two sample times the playlist skewed a deep-cuts AC (a more Urban AC the first time.)
I'm guessing this is still in a testing phase, because the "imaging" didn't even remotely match the playlist. The station voice (sounded like a mix of the Fox 11 voice guy & Jay Nunley) kept talking about hair bands & 80s rock, while playing Shalamar, Air Supply, Gloria Estefan & Frankie Valli, among others.
(BTW, if the proprietor of 106.9 is reading this: if you want somewhat better imaging, just let me know.)
Coverage area (at least east to west) went from around Milton to South Charleston.

I would say they are running more than their legal 5 watts TPO.Mr. Jones wrote:Took two different listens earlier today along 64.
