Re: Scott Finn leaves WV Public Broadcasting
The West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority today voted unanimously to appoint Chuck Roberts interim executive director of West Virginia Public Broadcasting effective immediately.
EBA Chairman Bill File said members of the board were pleased to select Roberts for the position.
“Chuck has gained valuable experience in his 18-year career with West Virginia Public Broadcasting and has done an outstanding job this past year and a half as chief operating officer,” File said. “He possesses the knowledge and skill set to work with our diverse constituency and has earned the complete confidence of the Educational Broadcasting Authority and our very talented staff.”
The West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority voted to appoint Chuck Roberts interim executive director of West Virginia Public Broadcasting.
“This is an exciting and challenging period for West Virginia Public Broadcasting, and we appreciate Chuck’s willingness to take on this very important role. We look forward to working with him as he continues to improve and advance public broadcasting in West Virginia,” File said.
Roberts replaces Scott Finn, who is leaving WVPB to become CEO of Vermont Public Radio. Roberts said he is honored to take the reins from Finn.
“Under Scott Finn’s leadership these past five years, West Virginia Public Broadcasting is well-positioned in the statewide community and is recognized for excellence on a national level,” Roberts said. “I look forward to continuing our mission of “Telling West Virginia’s Story” with the help of the talented and dedicated staff at WVPB.”
Roberts has worked his way up through the ranks of West Virginia Public Broadcasting from his start in 2000 as a video production associate. He became video production manager in Charleston in 2004 and was named director of video production nine years later. In 2016, Roberts was named chief operating officer of WVPB. He is a 1999 graduate of West Virginia State University with a B.S. in Mass Communications and is currently pursuing an MBA from Marshall University.
Finn said he will be on hand during the coming weeks to assist Roberts in the transition.
“Anyone who knows Chuck knows his strengths – his humor, warm personality and willingness to listen to many different perspectives before making a decision,” Finn said. “I feel good leaving this organization in such strong hands.”
EBA members also voted to empower Chairman File to appoint a search committee for a permanent executive director.
