Smooth Publicity Move of the Year Award

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Smooth Publicity Move of the Year Award

Post by Cameron »

Paging WXCC and EKB...anyone on?

http://www.williamsondailynews.com/news ... a33cc.html

The radio station is approximately 25 watts, meaning it covers parts of Belfry, Kentucky, and stretches to around the turn off for Kentucky Route 292 on U.S. 119. It's the only radio station in Williamson and aims to be a voice for the city and partner in what the listeners want, Pam Granger said. Tim Granger said he's also contacted the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates the radio waves, to make sure he was not in violation of any codes. - Williamson Daily News
Nope. Not in the license database.

Yar’ ‘ave a pirate sellin’ agin’ ya’s.

That Pamela lady seems to be in denial of their precarious legal state in these Facebook comments.

When you can't even correct the call letters one guy posted, you know it's a shady operation.

Keeping an eye on their "Station Information & FCC" page, which promises "FCC FILE AND INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON."

Now who would be so brazen as to build and advertise a pirate radio station in WV?
What kind of person could come up with a scheme like this?
Maybe it is someone who has done this sort of thing before.

A new comment on the Williamson Daily News FB link to the story says the station appears to be off the air. No word on when that happened.

Their website is down as well, as well as their Facebook page, and the Pamela lady seems to have deleted her personal FB account (or at least made it undiscoverable.)

It appears they couldn't stand the heat & got out of the kitchen.

Maybe the letter to the FCC that the guy sent to explain what they were going to do, Worked.
An explanation of the true power of the federal government may have been received.
Now that the people have made fools of themselves, They probably took what cash they had and vamoosed.
I would think there was criminal intent. No one could be that stupid.

They say you should never read the comments... Jesus, I should take that advice.

That Pamela has more than a screw loose.
