Adobe Audition 2.0

Post by Rock »

Anyone pick it up, yet?

I d-loaded the 30 day trial. First impressions.....

1) This mutha is a memory HOG!!!!!!!!! Audition 1.0 screams on my prod mocheen...2.0 takes a good 45 seconds from the click to the splashscreen. The, another 15 seconds load time.

2) Lotsa' new bells and whistles...better noise, pop, click filters. More varied compression settings, including a 'broadcast' and 'voiceover'.

3) Maybe better integration with cart exporting. Still working on that one.

4) This mutha is a memory HOG!!!!!!!! Oh, wait. Well, it's True!

5) Price tag is a little strong for a smaller operation. My initial recommendation is to wait for the price to come down, or just call your engineer, who still has a burnt copy of CEP from 2000. I swear, I think I know why Syntrillium went out of business.

Well I just upgraded to 2.0 and it runs great here. It takes around 3 to 5 seconds for the program to open after I click the icon. My PC is running:
AMD Athlon(tm)XP 2800+
2.07 Ghz, 512MB of RAM

I do have to admit adobe has bloated the program somewhat since they took over the Cool Edit folks.

update: Well after a day I downgraded to 1.5. Talk about running slow after awhile. I could work faster on a fisher price tape recorder....lol.

i use Sony Acid Pro 6.0

i love it

ive also been dabbling in Pro Tools.... i hate it, its the most over rated recording program out there i think... i wish somebody would take one of the user friendly layouts (like acid) and give it the umph needed to compete quality wise with Pro Tools

I've no experience with Sony. Thought about spinning it once, but CEP, or Audition, has been great for what I need. Bigger market sound, for a small market.

Radiofan, understood. Try increasing your temp file size. I think the default is only 256mb or so. I set the swap file to a much bigger number, and it's much better. Still slow, but better.

Ok, bad review #1. Where'd the 'undo' quick button go??????????? That screws it for me.

OTOH, MetroNews sends the 13:20 feed daily. Try using the 'broadcast' multi-spectral band compressor setting. Hoppy's promos never sounded so warm and crisp, especially for AM.

We've been using Sound Forge/Sony since version 4. Works fine, fairly easy to learn.

I have the full 2.0 version and used it for about 2 weeks before going back to 1.5. I didn't like the way it saves to file or the slow start up. It's been a few months since I switched back to 1.5 so, it's about time I take 2.0 for another spin.

In version 1.0, the keyboard controls were the same as CEP, which I like a lot. I've tried 1.5 and 2.0 and can't seem to get used to the default changes for control. I like using the keyboard shortcuts instead of looking for a way to do everyt hing with a mouse.. and I don't want to configure the new versions to how they should already be responding. That being said, I didn't see anything that was too special about the newer versions to warrant wanting them over 1.0

Side note:
Anyone catch the reverb/echo bug in CEP 2.0? Makes 2.1 a worthwhile p2p download.

Ok, so I went from AA 1.0 to 2.0.

So, what did I miss with 1.5? Is it worth the pickup of 1.5 over 1.0?
