A good book for RF beginners?

Post by Rock »

Fellows,

Coming from the sales and programming side, my indoc into engineering has been painfuly slow. I'm looking to at least get a basic knowledge of radio engineering. Do you have a recommendation on a good textbook, etc. for a beginner?

Thanks Much!

NAB Engineering Handbook isn't a bad read.

ARRL handboook. Considerably cheaper. Not directly related to broadcasting, but good introduction to RF and circuit theory. $50 bucks

Wow, thanks G-lock!

Um....about the deer head for sale...I got some mileage out of it this morning. I'm filling in for my morning man this week, and doing the 'swap shop'. Sux.

You should hear some of 'em....one guy's selling a combo TV/VCR/VD player. Yep. VD player.

Go to your local library and see if they have the "old" Broadcast Communications" textbook. It tells all on a beginning high school level. If you find the origional, it will describe tube circuits and xistor theory.

The late Raymond Johnston told me; "If you understand that book, you will pass the 1st class and any endorsement you want". Twas so true.

I think Prentice-Hall was the publisher.
