Harry Doyle: One hit. That's all we got, one Goddamn hit?!
Monte: You can't say "Goddamn" on the air.
Harry Doyle: Don't worry. Nobody's listening anyway.

Jim Treacy gone too.
WSAZ seems to have gone to a mostly kids news staff.
Is this the beginning of one-man-band stuff.
Or mayne the big GRAY (GREY?) budget ax swings.

Industry trend? The big news kahuna in DC, WRC-TV 4, has shed a lot of experience lately, and it shows!

Trend-bucker: Brooke Baldwin has been doing some great work for WTTG of late.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Whats to detail... I've heard that Scott Saxton isn't the greatest of news directors... Lots of talk that not to many people have any real respect for him over there... Lots of favoritism for a few and all the rest get left out.

Just look at the turnover: Justin Ryan, Erin Jordan, Amy Katcher... Doug Korstanje, Jimmy Tracey, etc... And everytime I tune in there is someone different doing sports.

Perhaps Maribeth wouldn't drink the kool-aid and thats why she left.
Saxton had no problem with the taste.
Well, how much do you have to spend to stay number one if you have won every book since 1948?

Jessica wore a tight sweater tonight on MyZ news.
I think she is sending me some of those secret messages.

Night before last, she had her hair pulled back and just looked amazing. She is the real deal.

However, her makeup has been over done lately, IMO.

I have never one station go through so many weather talent in such a short amount of time. Since Feb 2006, let us count:

1) Lisa Teachman
2) Adam Joesph
3) Glenn Willey
4) Erin Jordan
5) Todd Borek
6) Justin Ryan
7) Amy Katcher
8) Justin's replacement
9) Amy's replacement

If that does not speak volumes about WSAZ, I don't know what does! Both Justin and Amy had 3 year deals. They shaft Justin after a year on mornings for Amy, only a year later to have Justin go to a Top 10 market, and for Amy to leave the biz. Had they not moved Justin, he'd still be there, and there would be MUCH more stability at that station. Looks like it worked out great for Amy and Justin, and WSAZ shot themselves in the foot!

Todd...hopefully soon (for his sake and sanity), Katcher, hopefully yesterday.

RE: a previous post about Maribeth and Scott and Kool-Aid...under the old regime, Ken S. and Maribeth had clout in hires. D-Ray runs the shop now. The talent was good. Alot of the talent came "on the cheap", but there was talent. Since Gray has taken over, the talent hires have just be on the cheap, with very little talent, or talent that is not ready for market 65. Right out of school, these guys should be in Parkersburg, Beckley or Morgantown, not Huntington.

Of the list of weather people above, two of those names will be on network someday; Adam and Justin, no doubt on that. WSAZ has seen pretty much the last of their young and talented come through. They'd much rather have subpar, less than medicore talent who won't achieve more than WSAZ stay for a while, and be paid beans.

Agreed. He is not only one of the best at what he does, he also is very well liked by his audience and his cohorts.

You touched on something here that is worthy of extra discussion. I have noticed that the talent in this market seems to be much younger than in years past. I believe this is a good thing. The Jessicas, Amandas, Brooks, etc, seem to be doing much better at keeping the product fresh than the old school NJays (news jockeys) of yesteryear.

Who is the oldest anchor now? Rob? Deborah?

Hey Redsfan76,

How's it going Justin? Yeah, we all know it's you posting on here about yourself. Let's set the record straight.

1) You were DEMOTED at WSAZ because the viewers didn't like you and the staff couldn't stand you.

2) You got a job in Detroit (Market 11 by the way) because YOU are young and cheap. WSAZ isn't the only station following that trend so wake up.

3) Adam Joseph WILL be going to the network. You will probably self-destruct at your new station like you did at WSAZ and end up living in your old bedroom at Mommy's house.

4) Maybe if you weren't so smug, conceited and egotistical you would have had a better experience at WSAZ. If Detroit is so great, move on, and stop visiting this site.
