WCHS Noon Anchor

Post by genlock »

Meridith Wood got her chance to anchor today with Patric McNulty.
She is normally a reporter.
Short, nice figure, HUGE eyes.

Pardon me for not understanding, but it sounds like you're describing perfection!

What's the problem??

She is very young, right out of college.
Today was her first try at the anchor desk.
She did fine.

I saw a few minutes on my lunch break. I thought she was bad. They have too many young kids trying to be news anchors. What happened to Jennifer MCAndrews? She's one of the best they have.

There is no place to learn except on the air.
Perhaps Jenifer or Deborah will give her a break and offer advice.
Even Speedy Brooke had a rough debut.

Why is it that people who have never tried to do something so difficult feel the need to talk about how bad someone is at something? Do any of the people that thought she did a bad job work on air?

Just for the record, I haven't said a word about this young lady, however, I can proudly say, that for this moment in time, I still have a job on the air.

How 'bout you?

DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!

For the record also most of us have never played a down of organized football past high school but that doesn't prevent us from arguing like kids over football. Furthermore, since I married and don't have sex anymore I still feel compelled to critique porn movies.

This just in. Dave Allen has been charged with multiple-counts of playing unorganized-downs of post-high school football.

I spend 30 plus hours a week on air. I know how hard it can be somedays, ( really bad if your hungover). I do see the point about football too! I just get so tired of reading SOME people post about how bad others are in broadcasting when they have never logged 1 hour on air!!

You've GOT to be kidding.

There are really only two formats that I think are "hard" to do, and you ain't doin' either one.

And, then, you're adding some sort of easily-avoided, self-inflicted pain into the equation and thinking you have it hard??????

You've GOT to be kidding.

(Now, there's some bad grammar for ya! But completely warranted.)

Actually Arp, I do a morning show on 2 stations from 6-10
I do another broadcast from 11-noon, I do a 3 hour show every week with Woody O'hara for sports and I am the operations manger for 1 AM and 2 FM stations. So yes I am serious. When you get off the cross Arp we would like to put our fingers in your nailprints. You could also use the wood from the cross to build a bridge and get over yourself.

That might be "a lot," but it's not "hard." Don't delude yourself.

By "hard," I mean "requires much -- and maybe even fairly intense -- concentrated thought and forethought to pull off as it needs to be pulled off."

Shoot.....ok, three!

(It's been too long since I've done it.... ...and I did it only a couple of times....)

Actually, I might raise that number to "five." :?

"Talk" would be one....

Oh! Oh!! Oh!!!

Nope. Not gonna do it. 8)

But -- WHAT an opening for some serious ribbing!

Back to our hijacked topic:

I would have guessed TALK and JAZZ. Talk for the show prep necessary and the ability to "think on your feet" when dealing with guests or callers. Jazz because most air folks who excel in this format really know the music, the artists, history, etc. and can communicate with an affluent, upscale, educated audience. It's certainly not bottom feeder liner card radio.

HOT HITS CHR makes sense now that I think about it.

8)
Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

Actually aaron I've been on both sides of the camera along the way in my career, I've also had a couple stints in radio as well, I would love to go back to radio given the chance but back to what I was saying......

dont just assume people have never did something in their lives.. you're just another smartass like myself lookin to start sumthin, I've met Ms Wood and she's a sweet girl, but she's waaay too green to be behind the desk... even in a little market like this one.
