I Feel Very Lucky

Post by amayo »

This afternoon as I was about to anchor the 1:00pm news on WHAS, I had one of those moments when I realized I'm one of the luckiest people in this business.

I was using state-of-the-art equipment, on a huge 50,000 watt clear channel signal, and was about to do the job I always dreamed of doing. It brought me up short to realize that at age 46, I'm still living my dream.

I know this will sound completely idiotic, but I felt very grateful, and above all, very satisfied with the ride. I suppose it really hit home with me since two years ago, I was out of the business, and had no idea I'd ever return.

I've been doing this most of my professional career, and I have experienced many highs and lows. I never thought at this stage of my career I would have the best gig I've ever worked.

So--just allow me a moment to enjoy this, and I'll get back to work.

If you really like your job, then you are indeed lucky.
Just don't get cocky and have a dozen drinks before going home tonight.

Don't do it, Cameron.
You have to worry about keeping 22kw of WEMM out of WRVC radio.

I have a dozen drinks every night. What does that say about me?

I'm right there with you, Al. And to think, you and Eric McGuire were the two people that had the initial influence to get me into this crazy ride. So, not only are you living the dream, but you helped me get the idea of the dream. Now don't get me started on those who guided me along the way, and let me screw their radio stations up so I could learn...I couldn't be so satisfied with my life

I had that experience yesterday evening when I converted all the data from a legacy system and successfully had it uploaded into the new system that will be going online Nov. 1st. I had my moment and celebrated it well with a nice steak dinner.

This morning I walked into the office to find half of my applications support staff in the IT group were laid off.

There is a kill joy to bring one closer to reality.

Well, I appreciate the thought that I may have helped you with the idea, but if it goes bad, it's all McGuire's fault!

He's into crashing things, I hear.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

...be nice and request filtering for the metering or the whole-shebang ATUs, power-divide and all? (1/2 amp of 1470 on tower 2 @ 5kw) I'm sure that 22kw at a closer frequency will play nice, don't you? The re-radiation at 270kHz from their solid-state box will be another added-bonus like the current 540kHz on the Worst End.

They might-as-well diplex. Lucky most of their neighbors have had their telephones cut-off for non-payment.

I get up every morning feeling lucky about my job too!

So when will WRVC apply for the long rumored power increase?

I'm sorry, that's a technical forum question.

Still lovin' it.
