Broadcast "Pipe" stolen

Post by genlock »

HUNTINGTON -- More than $40,000 worth of copper piping was stolen from a local radio and television tower site.

Someone broke into a tower location near Rotary Park over the weekend.

An estimated $7,000 worth of copper piping was taken from the Clear Channel Communications antenna site. An additional $30,000 worth of copper piping was stolen from the Daystar Television network, which is a Christian station out of Ashland, Ky.

No arrests have been made.

Huntington police are investigating.

Too bad that "pipe" didn't have voltage and current on it.

Gez... If its transmission line, doesn't that come in 20 foot sections? And no one saw nothing.

It reminds me of the idiots who decided to try to make off with part of the Catlettsburg PD's new tower, in a compact pickup, with 15 feet of tower hanging off the back of the truck, sparks flying everywhere, and the WTCR chief engineer in hot pursuit. :D
