A Kanawha County circuit judge has ruled a man who allegedly killed a goat is competent to stand trial.
Judge Jim Stucky considered a mental evaluation recently completed on Mark Thompson, 20, of South Charleston, before handing down his decision Friday.
Stucky set Thompson's trial for June 4.
Thompson was arrested last May by Kanawha County Sheriff's Dept. deputies after he allegedly stole and killed his neighbor's goat while he was high on bath salts.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they say they entered Thompson's home where he was standing over the dead goat.
The pigmy goat was bleeding from the neck, police said. Deputies also say Thompson was wearing only female panties and a bra.
