They say it's not a cover-up... but I beg to differ.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Doesn't MSNBC stand for the Media that Spins the News for Barrack's Cabinet?

Dude... A little disclaimer, please.

This is a very sad story. The horror those kids went through is hardly imaginable.

However, I did hear a story about this on the Cincy NBC affil.

Being in Louisville, we gave the story heavy play, on our statewide Network, and on Tennessee Radio Network as well. Very grisly stuff.

Maybe the gruesome nature of this crime is the very reason why it's not getting national press coverage...

The details are incredibly disturbing to anybody with a shred of decency. The networks would definitely be accused of sensationalism if they ran wall-to-wall with this one... I know I couldn't deal with it personally.

The media had no qualms about going wall to wall with the NYPD officers that sodomized a prisoner with a toilet plunger.

I'm with Lester. The media is predisposed to sensationalize certain situations and feed certain races, social classes, and occupational groups to the dogs. There is also an unwritten list of those groups and people who receive "protection".

What's funny down here, is... if there is any kind of news story that involves a Mexican, the name is withheld from the news story. Two or three WEB updates to their site, and the name might get added in... but only the really bad news stories get a second shot on the air for the name to get out.

As an aside, and in regards to the "gruesome factor", some crazed WHITE dude chopped off his 4 year old daughters head about 2-3 months ago. The news down here wouldn't leave it alone. I swear they said the word "decapitated" more times in a day than they said their own calls.

Could it involve the fact that it's in Knoxville?

"Oh, man...the middle of Tennessee?? Who could we send there who wouldn't just gripe nonstop? What about a local reporter....anybody there we can use, or is it too small and just a bunch of uglies we wouldn't want to put on our network?"

I can imagine it, so I hafta ask......

Of course, little do they know that Knoxville is excellent and literally full of academics and nuclear scientists.....
"I don't know the same things you don't know."

"Yes, you do; you just won't admit it!"

"Yeeee...it looks like a 'Belt Buckle & Ball Cap' convention in here......"
