Exxon makes $108 million dollars a day

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Actually, the word "gubmint" is a regional pronunciation. In some areas it's pronounced "gummint."

NRA members suggest it be pronounced "gunmint."

In West Virginia, to stop "gas wars", the law requires a retailer to sell gasoline at least 7 cents more than what they paid the jobber for it.
Another bone-head law WV legislators passed years ago. It wasn't just for "gas wars". It was to prevent the corporate owned stations from undercutting the mom & pop stations. There used to be a family owned gas station near Chelyan WV (not far from the WV Turnpike) that consistently sold gas cheaper than the corporate stations. The big boys complained, and finally drove the mom & pop station out of business. So what was supposed to help the little guy actually hurt him.

In my opinion, this would be no different than telling Wal-Mart that they cant sell their goods any cheaper than the mom & pop store down the road. Can you IMAGINE the outcry?? And yet... no one says a word about the legislators sticking their noses into the price of gas.

Did anyone think to ask Arp for some documentation of the 3 for 1 dollar comment? Could be true, could be bullshit.
Democrats did not promise lower gas prices.
We could have a new refinery up in 12 months. Why build a new refinery when you can manipulate the supply with the ones you have?

Here's the democrat Pope Nancy on her own website:
Pope Nancy wrote:“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.â€

The price gouging bill has been introduced in Congress. That appears to be the first step in the plan. So it looks like they're attempting to keep their promise.

Riiiight. They control the house and the senate. There should be no "attempt"...

Profit margin on gasoline -- 9%
Gubmint taxes on gasoline -- 25-35%

Percent of work done by energy providers -- 100%
Percent of work done by gubmint -- 0%

Gubmint is the real massive rip-off artist. Gubmint is like the freakin' mob.
Democrats did not promise lower gas prices.
As you've already been told, Nancy "I order all children to touch and stroke my gavel" Pelosi, being the figurehead of her peoples, has said, “Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.â€

I personally have no problem with the government tax on gasoline, since I find such amenities as modern paved highways of value.

When it is not gouging, it is collusion. One only need to drive 5 minutes up any road to see it at work.

Fine....

Then please also find value in having someone finding and bringing oil and gasoline from 5-10,000 miles away and making it usable for you such that you're able to drive on them....

...and taking all the risk and doing all the work for only one third the "reward" that the gubmint gets for doing none of it.
