WKRP

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

'KRP was the reason I got into radio..that and I thought, "Hey, it will be cool to have a job where I don't really have to work, and can get free t-shirts!" 19 years later my hearing is shot from turning up my headphones too loud, I hate nearly everybody I come in contact with and I drink too much.

All in all....THANK YOU, WKRP!!

It is Suddenlink 113 in the Charleston area, too.
Did not see it listed on DirecTV or Dish Network websites.

Looks like it's going to be a once-a-week showing only -- Monday night at 10 with a midnight-ish replay.

Shoot....I could have taken an episode every day through the summer.....

I'm assuming it's the syndicated version, with the generic music? Anyone know?

Can anyone translate the words to the closing theme? Just wondering.

I may very well be wrong, but it seems I recall the early episodes having different music.

From IMDb.com:

The ending theme song, a cool little rock ditty, was done by a group of studio musicians in Atlanta, GA. The words are unintelligible for a very simple reason -- there are no words! The vocal was basically a "scratch" track, i.e., a vocal track recorded solely to help the musicians and the show's producers get a feel for the song and the lyric melody. But the producers liked it as is, and it was never changed, so there aren't any words, just meaningless gibberish!

Meaningless giberish? I thought "Dave In The Morning" held the exclusive on that.

The first episode last week had the generic music during the show, but the end theme was the original end theme, as far as I can remember.

Seeing as how Season One is now out on DVD, does American Life showing it really matter? You'd think they'd buy some time during the show to hock the DVD set.

The new ALTV Monday night lineup also includes "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Bob Newhart Show".

I'm still holding out for "Mr. Terrific" and "The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show"...

I had forgotten about "Mr. Terrific." I think it was out about the same time as "Captain Nice." I'll wait for the box sets of "Turn On" and "Pink Lady & Jeff."

Did anybody on this board, possibly you David since you mentioned it, actually see "Turn On"? I did and distinctly remember that the next week WTAE aired an episode of "Hazel".

Something tells me that "Captain Nice" was a year or so removed from "Mr. Terrific", since I remember it being a whole lot "hipper" than "Mr. Terrific".

Okay, now I've got me started. Let me go IMDB it...

Well, whattayaknow! Both began airing on the exact same date: 6-9-67!

Intro narraration from "Mr. Terrific" was included:

"A scientist both wise and bold set out to cure the common cold. Instead, he found this power pill "which", he said, "most certainly will turn a lamb into a lion. Like an eagle he'll be flyin'! Solid steel will be like putty. It will work on anybody!" But it was found this potent pill made the strongest men quite ill. And so the secret search began to find the one and only man! What they found made them squeamish, for only Stanley Beamish, a meek and droopy daffodil, could take the special power pill that sent him soaring through the skies, fighting foes and fighting spies! When he took the pill specific, it made him the most magnific, prolific, Mister Terrific!"
