This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Trivia

Who graduated from Marietta College (Marietta Ohio) in 1884,
and wrote the music to a hit rock record of the late 50s?

Oh... he also happened to be vice president of the United States.

What was the song?

(Is this too easy? Everything is if you Google)

As a wise-but-odd man once quipped, "If you understand, that's fine. If you don't, that's fine too... But you should probably read more."
So sayeth His Royal Highness King Spike; greatest broadcasting talent of his generation.

Yep... Donald and Walter need a name for their group. Since both of them were avid readers of 1950's "Beat" literature, they decided to name the band "Steely Dan" after a dildo in William Burroughs' "Naked Lunch."

The book was banned in many regions of the United States. The book was banned by Boston courts in 1962 due to obscenity (notably child murder in pedophilic acts), but that decision was reversed in 1966 by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. This was the last major literary censorship battle in the U.S.
